Winter Wrap-up! (We hope)

Well we wrapped up 3 winter print projects and said good bye to winter forever! Hello springtime (we’re ready whenever you are!)  We finished shirts for the Skier Shop in Stowe and our contact Jeff came by to pick one up for a contest at Loon.

Battle for Burlington’s College Throwdown at Jay Peak also went down yesterday, we’re not sure who won yet but we know everyone was looking good in their official event shirts (printed by Unknown Arts!)  Our friend Ryan Pelski (Sled the East and the Northern Agency) did the artwork and attended the Battle, maybe he’ll have some pics for us to look at soon… until then check out the ‘hot off the press’ version below.

The UVM team also must have been looking good cause we printed their shirts too.

In other news, C Reid brought a special guest over to the shop the other day- DJ Demus (check him out at Reggae Night every Sunday night at Nectar’s)  He hung out for a bit and grabbed a Rastamont shirt, maybe you’ll see it tonight!

Unknown Arts would also like to introduce you to Russell Martin- he’ll be hanging out, printing shirts and helping us take over the world.  Check out his stuff at his site IMAG3 and look for much more to come from Russell in the near future.

Through Russell, we met Joe Dimeck who is helping create and online culutre magazine/website called RoneBreak.  Here’s Joe holding a sample of the new RoneBreak t-shirt featuring a young Obama wearing a rather nice hat.  Were gonna be collaborating with Joe and RoneBreak on a secret guerrilla marketing/promotional product soon, we’ll have more details on that next weekend…

It’s almost April and you know what that means… Church St. here we come!  Stay tuned

Until then check out all this week’s pics here.

Keep On Keepin’ On – The Cart Printing Continues…

Hey everybody,

Keeping up with this blog is a lot of work!  We’re trying to play catch-up over here at the Unknown Arts after another busy week of printing but I’ve finally had some time to sit down and get all our pictures off the cameras and onto the internet.

Cart printing continued this week with ‘Listen to Your Brain’ (It’s Crazy!), a NASA space shuttle tombstone design, a Rastafarian themed VT shirt, and a few others that you’ll just have to see for yourself come April.

As some of you may have noticed, we were unable to attend Family Fun Day at Bolton Valley this past Sunday- partly due to us being so busy, partly due to rain, and partly because we weren’t allowed to bring a BBQ grill… oh well, maybe next year.  However, in related news, Unknown Arts will be printing shirts for and co-sponsoring the Battle For Burlington’s College Throwdown at Jay Peak this Saturday.  Try to make it up to Jay this weekend to see the action, tickets will be only $25 and if we end up going were not telling anyone we’re bringing a grill!

We also did some custom printing for Burlington’s finest local bike shop, Royal Cycles.  Master Carpenter Chris Reid, who also works part-time at the bike shop, did the artwork and even helped pick out and mix the ink colors.  The shirts came out sweet, better get down to King Street and pick one up!  We also started working on a project for the Skier Shop out in Stowe.  Check back later this week to see us printing some really big shirts!

More pics, more story here.

Weekend Wrap-Up!

The weekend has come and passed and has left piles of ink, t-shirts, and pictures in its wake (all the pictures are on Facebook here)  We printed a few new shirts for the cart- Scott’s ‘Beetles Need Coffee Too,’ my old ‘Ranchero Deluxo,’ and a crazy Moth tee from Mr. Paddy Charles.  Biscuits!
A ‘what’s-been-printed-so-far’ batch of April’s cart line-up will have a special preview this Sunday at Bolton Valley’s ‘Family Fun Day.’  We’ll be there for most of the day, getting some spring riding in, grilling food, and educating the people of the mountain about Unknown Arts!  Get yourself up to the mountain before the snows all gone!

We also had a visit from the mysterious Amaru Chasqui who stopped by to show us his latest completed work entitled ‘Mother Earth.’

In other news, C Reid wrapped up his display case project for the cart and it came out massively awesome!  Here’s Chris holding a saw in a scary and dangerous manner!  This week, we’ll be printing a few more designs and preparing for Fun Day!  If you’re in the Burlington area come by and say hello!

Did I mention there’s a lot more pictures?

A Cart Printing Weekend – Round 1

The debut of the Unknown Arts cart is less than a month away and we’ve been digging up old designs, making new ones, and printing, printing, printing in preparation for the launch of the cart on April fool’s day!

While the cart projects move forward the regular work never stops (which is a good thing) and today’s custom shirts will end up traveling to David ‘Paleo‘ Strackany, who is about to start his upcoming tour.  All the shows it turns out are no where near Burlington so for now just check out his myspace!

Paleo is a cool dude who one time wrote and recorded a song every day for a year!  That’s a lotta music!

In between the major projects we’ve also been printing a small number of things just for fun and building business-enhancing contraptions like this.

It was a busy day for sure and that was only Wednesday!  There’s lots more lined up for this weekend so we’ll keep everyone updated as more unknown projects become realities.

Wanna see even more pictures of ‘Big Wednesday’?

A Mysterious Peruvian

Here’s a showcase of some art from our Peruvian friend. He’s a master wood carver and painter and is one of our potential “unknown artists” (a department of Unknown Arts yet to be unleashed). Check out his sweet frame he hand-carved out of mahogany wood. I already know you think it’s amazing.

Pretty sweet, huh? And here is his immaculate painting, truly a work of art.

If you see this mysterious Peruvian in the streets of Burlington give him the props he deserves. Keep the art coming man, we love it!  (See more pics)
